Quick Take

Looking for the world's best wellness retreats to start 2026 refreshed and renewed? This guide features five luxury wellness destinations offering transformative medical detoxification, Ayurvedic healing, ancient spa traditions, personalized fitness, and cutting-edge wellness technology. From Montenegro's world-renowned Chenot Espace and Greece's oleotherapy rituals to Mexico's integrative medical spa, California's European wellness tradition, and Hawaii's high-tech Sensei retreat, discover where to begin your New Year transformation.

Why New Year Is the Perfect Time for a Wellness Reset

Research shows that New Year creates powerful motivation for personal transformation, our bodies are primed for renewal after holiday indulgence, ready to detoxify and optimize energy. Yet resolutions alone rarely sustain us. What creates lasting change are environments designed for transformation, with expert guidance and holistic programs addressing body, mind, and spirit (and a little sunshine while you're at it doesn't hurt).

Cal-a-Vie Health Spa, Vista - California

You don't need a passport to feel like you’re in Provence in this California luxury getaway. Tucked away in the rolling hills near San Diego, Cal-a-Vie is an intimate, all-inclusive hideaway with vineyards, lavender fields, and a 400-year-old French chapel. It’s cozy, exclusive, and incredibly welcoming.

Why We Love It
It feels like you're in the European countryside. The "all-inclusive" aspect here is true luxury: your meals, treatments, and classes are all handled. The hiking here is breathtaking, offering a great way to start the day with movement and fresh air.

The Experience:
Morning Hikes: Gentle (or challenging) morning treks through the wildflowers are a staple here.
Gourmet Wellness: The food is farm-to-table from their own gardens

Perfect For:
Solo travelers, couples, mother-daughter duo. Ideal for those valuing comfort, gourmet food, and optional structure over intense boot-camp-style programming, in an intimate, château-like setting rather than a large resort environment.

Sensei Lanai, A Four Seasons Resort — Lanai, Hawaii

If you love data and luxury, this is your spot. Founded by Larry Ellison (tech billionaire) and Dr. David Agus, Sensei combines the lush beauty of Hawaii with smart technology to personalize your stay. It’s ultra-private, incredibly lush, and focused on movement, nourishment, and rest.

Why We Love It
The "Spa Hales." You don’t just go to a treatment room; you get your own private 1,000-square-foot sanctuary with a dipping pool and steam shower. It is the ultimate privacy. Plus, the WHOOP strap technology (sent to you before you travel) helps the team adjust your itinerary in real-time based on how well you slept and recovered.

The Experience:
The Sensei Way: It’s not about starving; it’s about finding what feels good for your body.
Tropical Solitude: The island of Lanai is quiet and secluded, making it easy to disconnect from the noise of daily life.

Perfect For:
Couples or privacy-seekers looking for an adults getaway. If you want to disappear into a tropical garden and emerge feeling 100% recharged, this is the place.

SHA Wellness Clinic, Costa Mujeres México

You want the serious health benefits of a European clinic, but you want it with a margarita-free Caribbean view and a short flight. SHA is the gold standard for medical wellness, and their new Mexico location brings that expertise to the white sands of Costa Mujeres.

Why we love it
It’s efficient. You can hop on a flight and be checking into an oceanfront suite by the afternoon. This is for the person who wants to use their vacation to get a full "body audit" while enjoying a beach getaway. The facility is brand new and state-of-the-art, but the setting is pure tropical bliss.

The Experience:
Sun & Science: You can do high-tech metabolic testing in the morning and walk on pristine white sand in the afternoon.
The Best of Both: It combines Western diagnostics (checking your vitals, stress levels, etc.) with natural therapies so you feel taken care of from every angle.

Perfect For:
The sun-seeker who needs a reboot. Perfect for couples or friends who want to detox in an adults focused Mexican retreat with beautiful surroundings without the need of crossing the Atlantic.

One&Only Portonovi, Montenegro — Chenot Espace

Imagine the ultra-luxury hospitality of a One&Only resort combined with the world’s most famous detox method. Located on the stunning Adriatic coast (glittering water and mountain views), this is where you go when you want serious results but refuse to compromise on comfort.

Why we love it:
It’s the perfect balance. You have the Chenot method, which is rigorous and incredibly effective for detoxing and weight loss—housed inside a resort that feels indulgent. You can spend your morning getting advanced treatments that melt away stress and inflammation, and your afternoon reading by a private pool or on the beach.

The Experience:
No Thinking Required: Your schedule is tailored to you, from medical checks to massages.
The Food: The "Chenot Diet" is famous for a reason. It’s plant-based and designed to reset your metabolism.

Perfect For:
Guests seeking the most medically sophisticated wellness experience with personalized detox programs delivering measurable, lasting health results—genuine lifestyle transformation supported by medical science rather than temporary fixes.

Mandarin Oriental, Costa Navarino, Greece

This is less "medical clinic" and more "healing sanctuary." Nestled on the Peloponnese coast, this resort feels like a deep exhale. It utilizes the region's ancient traditions (specifically olive oil therapies) to nourish your skin and body.

Why we love it
It’s incredibly grounding. If the holidays left you feeling scattered or anxious, the slow pace and natural beauty here are the antidote. The spa treatments are rooted in history (some based on practices from Hippocrates), using local ingredients that smell and feel divine.

The Experience:
Oleotherapy Rituals: Unique treatments using olive oil that you can’t find anywhere else, perfect for winter-dry skin.
Indoor-Outdoor Living: The design blurs the lines between nature and luxury. You are constantly surrounded by views of the Bay of Navarino.

Perfect For:
Travelers seeking holistic wellness rooted in ancient Greek healing traditions combined with contemporary luxury spa services: particularly powerful for hormone balance, anti-inflammatory healing, and those drawn to Mediterranean wellness.

WHICH ONE IF THE RIGHT FOR YOU?

"I want to go with my mom or sister for a bonding trip." - Go to Cal-a-Vie. The cozy, safe, villa-style environment is perfect for catching up while hiking and spa-ing.

"I am totally burnt out and need someone to fix me." - Go to One&Only Portonovi (Chenot). The medical rigor combined with the luxury resort setting is the ultimate fix for high-stress burnout.

Best Luxury Resorts in Guanacaste, Costa Rica: Nekajui (Ritz-Carlton Reserve), Four Seasons & Waldorf Astoria (Punta Cacique)

Costa Rica’s Papagayo Peninsula has evolved into the ultimate stage for luxury beach resort hospitality. Three leading brands: Nekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve; Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica at Peninsula Papagayo; and Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica Punta Cacique, have taken root here, each delivering a distinct take on barefoot luxury.

KJT team Kate, Lenni, Ann, and Madelyn recently completed on-the-ground site inspections across Papagayo. They walked the rooms, tested the beaches and pools, tasted the menus, and spoke with the teams at these properties. Whether you crave immersive culture, legacy service, or cliffside design drama, Papagayo in 2025 offers a luxury escape for every traveler.

quick take

  • Nekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve: An intimate, design-forward sanctuary with highly personalized, exceptional service and sweeping views. It feels sophisticated yet rooted in place.

  • Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica: The peninsula’s anchor with two (conditions-permitting) swimmable beaches, rich programming for families, and a broad range of rooms, suites, and residences. It is reliable and easy to love.

  • Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica: A dramatic cliffside newcomer with cascading pools and contemporary dining that leans into local produce. Modern energy, with big views.

Getting there: The 3 properties are a 35-45 minute drive from Liberia Airport (LIR)

Nekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve (Peninsula Papagayo)

Opened February 2025 as Central America’s first Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Nekajui (NEK-ah-wee), named after the Chorotega word for “lush garden,” brings 107 ocean-facing accommodations including suites and a handful of treetop tents, plus 36 private residences, all perched above Pochote Bay. The resort leans into high-touch Reserve service, a 27,000-square-foot Nimbu Spa with hydrotherapy and sweeping views, and dining that spans Peruvian celebrity-chef cuisine (Puna) to Ibizan beach-club fare (Niri Beach Club). Instagram gold: the funicular to Niri, a jungle suspension bridge, and a curated Latin American art collection.

Vibe & setting: Perched above Pochote Bay with sweeping Pacific views, Nekajui brings the Reserve brand’s “small-by-design” intimacy to Costa Rica with elevated craft, art, and sense of place.

Why it stands out: A curated aesthetic and Reserve-caliber service (the brand’s highest tier) meet serious wellness (Featuring hydrotherapy pools, a movement studio, & luxurious ocean-facing treatment villas). Perfect for travelers who want luxury that still feels rooted in nature.

Best for: Design lovers, spa aficionados, couples, privacy-seekers, and “I’ve-done-Papagayo-show-me-what’s-next” regulars.

Good to know: Nekajui is the first Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Central America and one of the most talked-about openings in the region. Availability can be tight in peak months.

The team's favorite: The spa’s ocean view steam room is really amazing! The architecture and interiors, the outstanding service and a very well kept secret, a speakeasy that's invite only.

Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica at Peninsula Papagayo

The peninsula’s long-time flagship balances polish with range: 199 accommodations, an Arnold Palmer Signature golf course, and Kids For All Seasons, all set along a ridge flanked by Playa Virador and Playa Blanca (yes, you get two beach options). Recent enhancements added Virador Beach Club, a Wellness Shala, and refreshed family facilities; the property has held a Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star rating for ten consecutive years.

Vibe & setting: The OG crown jewel. Set atop a slender ridge flanked by two beaches, Four Seasons mixes luxury with a variety of activities for everyone. From golf, to kids’ clubs to wellness. Everything executed with the consistency frequent travelers trust from a Four Seasons luxury resort.

Why it stands out: Rare “both-sides-of-the-beach” access, broad room-to-villa inventory (including multi-bedroom residences), and programming for multigenerational trips. It’s the safe bet that still feels special.

Best for: Families, multi-gen groups and friends’ getaways that want the resort feel.

Good to know: This property is a perennial Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star, and it leans into adventure + wellness without sacrificing ease. Peak season books far in advance.

The team's favorite: This is THE premier spot for beach, you don’t get one but TWO and of course all the white-face monkeys you get to see in the morning.

Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica (Punta Cacique / Playa Penca)

Debuting April 22, 2025 on the cliffs above Playa Penca, the Waldorf Astoria delivers a modern, terrace-and-pool showpiece with quick access (about 17 miles) from Liberia Airport (LIR). The resort is terraced from cliff to shoreline and features multiple pools, ocean-view rooms and suites, a signature Peacock Alley bar, and a wellness program rooted in local botanicals. Expect roughly 188 accommodations and a contemporary, design-forward feel ideal for short celebratory stays or style-led escapes.

Vibe and setting. The Waldorf descends from a cliff to the calm waters of Playa Penca. Architecture favors clean lines and open views, while the pool terraces create an easy, all-day lounging scene.

Why it stands out. The energy is contemporary and upbeat, with a clear emphasis on pool-to-beach flow and statement dining.

Who it’s for. Style-led couples, spa-and-pool devotees, and travelers who want modern with minimal logistics and who don’t plan to leave the resort for a few days.

Good to know. The bay is typically well-sheltered, which often means gentle water conditions. Ask the team for daily guidance before heading out.

The team's favorite: The views, the interiors, the multi-level cascading pools (the kids will love the water slide) & Peacock Alley bar.

Ski Season 2025-2026 Guide

If “plan the ski trip” keeps dropping to the bottom of your to-do list, this is your sign to hand us the reins. The 2025-2026 ski season is shaping up to be great. Early forecasts predict colder-than-average temperatures, especially in January 2026, with an "arctic blast type pattern" music to every powder hound's ears.

But here's the thing: with over 470 ski resorts across the United States, how do you choose the right one for your family, your skill level, your budget, and your travel dates? More importantly, how do you navigate the complex web of lift tickets, accommodations, gear rentals, ski schools, and travel insurance without losing your mind?

The Ski Trip Paradox: Endless Options, Limited Time

Picture this: You're scrolling through resort websites at 11 PM, trying to figure out whether your intermediate-skiing 12-year-old will be challenged enough at Deer Valley (which just earned top honors from multiple publications including World Ski Awards) or if you should opt for something with more varied terrain. Meanwhile, you're juggling questions about ski-in/ski-out versus shuttle access, Epic Pass versus Ikon Pass, and whether that "deal" you found includes breakfast or not.

This isn't uncommon. Ski trip planning has become exponentially more complex, and even seasoned travelers find themselves overwhelmed by the sheer number of decisions required.

What’s new for 2025–2026 in the US

  • Deer Valley, UT, doubles down on terrain. A multi-year expansion adds 3,700+ new acres with 16 new lifts (including a 10-passenger gondola), centered on the brand-new East Village with the majority of new terrain slated to open this winter. Translation: more variety for mixed-ability families and easier access/parking.

  • Park City, UT: the Sunrise Gondola debuts, a 10-person lift out of Canyons Village. The brand-new Sunrise Gondola will take guests from the base of the Canyons Village at Park City Mountain Resort to Red Pine Lodge at mid-mountain.

  • Big Sky, MT: a two-stage Explorer Gondola streamlines movement from the village toward the Lone Peak Tram. Plus making its debut, One&Only Moonlight Basin with first reveal offers - great opportunity to visit this new property. Excited to help you book it!

  • Aspen Snowmass, CO: Elk Camp gets a high-speed six-pack, boosting access to family-friendly intermediate terrain.

Beyond Booking: The Hidden Complexity of Ski Travel

Here's what most people don't realize about ski trips: the resort selection is just the beginning. You also have to consider these variables:

  • Timing Strategy: Should you go Presidents' Day week when snow conditions peak but crowds surge? Or target that sweet spot in late January when powder is fresh and lift lines are manageable?

  • Accommodations: Do you need a sprawling vacation rental for extended family, a luxe ski-in/ski-out condo, or a traditional slope-side hotel with concierge services? Each option dramatically affects your daily experience.

  • The Gear Equation: Renting on-mountain versus a ski butler, sizing for growing kids, performance versus comfort gear, these decisions can make or break your trip comfort level.

  • Ski School Strategy: Group lessons versus private instruction, age-appropriate programs, multi-day packages versus day rates. Getting this wrong means frustrated family members and wasted vacation time.

The Travel Advisor Advantage: Your Ski Trip Command Center

When you work with KJT, you're not just getting a travel advisor, you're getting a ski trip strategist. Here's how we transform your ski trip planning:

  • Destination Matchmaking: We consider your family's skill levels, ages, interests, and travel style to recommend the perfect resort match. Beginner skiers might thrive at family-friendly destinations, while advanced skiers could maximize their time at challenging terrain parks elsewhere.

  • Logistics Off Your plate: While you're focused on work, family and planning the perfect outfits, we're coordinating lift tickets, equipment rentals, ski school reservations, airport transfers, and dinner reservations. You just show up, everything else is handled.

  • Risk Management: We build in weather contingencies, secure appropriate travel insurance, and have backup plans under our sleeve for common ski travel disruptions.

  • Big Picture Support: We know which resorts offer the best après-ski for adults, which have fun mountain activities like tubing and sleigh rides for families, and how to avoid common rookie mistakes that can cost time and money.

Luxury Hotels in Mallorca and Bordeaux: A KJ Travel Advisor’s Summer Escape

Picture this, early summer in Europe warm breezes off the Balearic coast, vineyard sunsets in southwest France, and the satisfying clink of a wine glass after a day well spent. If you’re looking to pair cultural immersion with stunning stays, this itinerary delivers just that. KJ Travel advisor Lenni recently explored Mallorca and Bordeaux and came back with fresh hotel intel, trip notes, and plenty of takeaways for travelers craving a high-end but low-stress European escape.

Grand Hotel Son Net, Mallorca

A Boutique Luxury Hotel in Mallorca’s Tramuntana Mountains

Just 15 minutes outside Palma and nestled at the foot of the UNESCO-protected Serra de Tramuntana, Grand Hotel Son Net blends historical charm with quiet luxury. The restored 17th-century estate is surrounded by olive trees, vineyards, and breathtaking mountain views, perfect for couples or adult travelers looking for a top boutique hotel in Mallorca.

Lenni spent two nights here and described it as “absolutely stunning.” Her highlights included refined Mallorcan cuisine (don’t miss the beef tenderloin with foie gras and truffle), spacious suites, and the chance to hike or bike right from the property.

KJT Travel Tip: Palma’s city center is gorgeous but tricky for driving. Lenni recommends parking just outside the city and walking in for a more relaxing experience.

This is a standout property for those planning a romantic or wellness-focused European summer escape. Perfect for: Couples, honeymooners, and wellness seekers.

Belmond La Residencia, Deia

Family-Friendly Charm in Mallorca’s Most Artistic Village

Set in the artistic mountain village of Deia, Belmond La Residencia is ideal for families or travelers drawn to Mallorca’s creative soul. Stone buildings, curated art, and lush gardens make it one of the most iconic luxury hotels in Mallorca.

During her visit, Lenni dined at Tramuntana Grill and noted the property’s family appeal and artistic charm, with a slightly more touristy vibe.

KJT Travel tip: Even if you’re not staying overnight, make time for a lunch stop. The mountain views and Mediterranean cuisine are worth it.

Perfect for: Families, creatives, and cultural travelers.

Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel & Spa

Sea Views and Family-Friendly Luxury

Perched above the cliffs of Port Soller, this five-star resort offers sweeping views of the Mediterranean and the Tramuntana range. With its lush gardens, infinity pools, and indulgent wellness spa, Jumeirah Mallorca is a sanctuary by the sea.

Lenni stayed here for two nights and recommended it for both couples and families. While the hotel will undergo a refresh in 2027, the experience remains exceptional.

KJ Travel tip: Book a boat excursion for a truly unforgettable coastal adventure.

Bonus Tip: Don’t miss sunset cocktails at the Sunset Lounge, this is Mallorca luxury travel at its finest.

Perfect for: Families, romantic escapes, and wellness travelers.

Les Sources de Caudalie, Bordeaux

Vineyard & Wine Tasting in Southwest France

Just 20 minutes from Bordeaux city center, Les Sources de Caudalie is one of France’s most iconic wine country retreats. Surrounded by the Grand Cru vineyards of Château Smith Haut Lafitte, this luxury hotel in Bordeaux blends rustic charm  with serious wellness appeal.

Lenni enjoyed the serene setting, on-site wine tasting, and charming rooms each inspired by the Aquitaine region. Dining at La Table du Lavoir was a highlight. Booking a signature massage unlocks access to the full thermal circuit.

KJT Travel tip: Book a suite for added comfort and views of the vineyards. For wine lovers, this is your ideal European summer itinerary base.

Perfect for: Wine lovers, couples, and spa seekers.

Bordeaux City Notes

Lenni also explored Bordeaux itself, calling it a “mini Paris”, café culture, 18th-century charm, and walkable streets without the big-city hustle. It’s a smart add-on for couples or friends looking to wrap a wine-focused getaway with a little urban flair.

Ready to Plan Your Own Luxury Escape?

Whether you’re craving boutique vineyards, sea-facing suites, or cultural immersion, these luxury hotels in Mallorca and Bordeaux offer the perfect balance of comfort and discovery. Don’t Wait: 5 Smart Reasons to Book Hotel For Festive Now

There’s something extra magical about the holidays, golden lights flickering everywhere, the sound of family gatherings, and a sense of losing track of time. If you’re dreaming of a luxury holiday getaway that actually feels like a vacation, the time to plan is now.

Whether you're eyeing a private villa in the Riviera Nayarit or a full estate buyout in Europe, here are five compelling reasons to secure your festive travel early straight from our luxury travel experts.

1. The Best Rooms, Villas, and Suites Go First

In luxury travel, “standard” doesn’t exist especially around the holidays. The most coveted accommodations go fast. We’re talking oceanfront villas with private pools, multi-bedroom suites with panoramic views, and full residences that will feel like your home away from home, but with private chefs and butlers.

Why book early? These top-tier suites are often reserved 6–9 months in advance and many are available to preferred partners like KJ Travel. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.

Want ideas? Take a peek at Four Seasons Tamarindo, a secluded, ultra-private escape ideal for holiday luxury.

2. Buyouts Take Strategy (and Time)

Booking a hotel or estate buyout is the ultimate festive flex, but it’s not something to leave to chance. From contracts to curated menus and private staffing to festive décor, it takes advance planning to do it right.

Whether you’re planning a multigenerational gathering or an intimate “just us” retreat, booking early gives you: Access to rare availability, flexibility to customize and time to bring the vision to life

3. School Holidays = Global Competition

If you’re syncing your travel with school breaks, you’re not alone, families across the U.S., U.K., Canada, and beyond are doing the same. That means you’re competing on a global level for a very finite number of family-friendly luxury suites and connecting rooms. And while we always advocate for smart connections, holiday travel is one time where "wait and see" rarely works in your favor.

Planning with school calendars? Check out our Luxury Spring Break for Families  for more family-focused recommendations.

4. Better Flights, Better Routes, Better Prices

Let’s not forget the skies. Premium flight availability is limited during festive weeks, especially for nonstop routes and business class seats. Booking early means you’ll likely get better pricing, better flight times, and fewer headaches.

5. Early Bookers Get the Perks

Beachfront villa and the prime spot for the New Year’s Eve dinner. A top private guide, the horseback ride on Christmas morning, A boat-tour to watch fireworks. Booking early means you get the full experience on those activities that will add a special touch to your holidays.

Let’s Make It the Festive Season You Get to Enjoy

Because these aren’t just vacations, they’re memory-makers. They’re the stories that come up every holiday season after, the ones you’ll still be talking about long after the decorations are packed away.

Let KJ Travel handle every detail with exclusive access, expert insights, and a touch of festive magic.

Mandarina, Your Way: Two Luxury Resorts in Riviera Nayarit, Mexico

Tucked between the jungle and the Pacific, the Mandarina development in Riviera Nayarit is home to two of Mexico’s most luxurious coastal resorts: Rosewood Mandarina and One&Only Mandarina. Though they share a lush, beachfront jungle setting just north of Punta Mita, each offers a distinct style of luxury, one soulful and nature-immersive, the other sleek and secluded.

This side-by-side comparison is your insider guide to choosing the best Mandarina luxury resort for your next Mexico getaway.

First things first. How to get there
Both resorts are easily accessible.

  • Nearest Airport: Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport (PVR) in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco  the closest international hub for both resorts.

  • Drive Time: 45–60 minutes via a newly upgraded coastal highway with ocean views and lush jungle backdrops

VIP Transfers: Both resorts offer private luxury SUV service.

Beyond their differences in design and atmosphere, both Rosewood and One&Only share the broader amenities of the Mandarina development. Guests at either resort enjoy access to the same outdoor adventures: Ziplining, horseback riding, polo, golf, surfing, and guided hikes. Dining is also reciprocal: while each property has its own restaurants, guests are welcome to dine across both. What’s distinct are the private spaces (separate pools, spas, and kids clubs) while everything beyond your villa door is designed to feel seamless, giving you the best of Mandarina no matter which resort you choose.

Rosewood Mandarina

Set on 565 acres, Rosewood Mandarina is built around three ecosystems: beachfront, jungle flatlands, and cliffside, each forming its own intimate enclave of suites and villas. The accommodations blend Mexican craftsmanship and modern comfort, with native materials, private plunge pools, and open-air designs that bring the outdoors in.

On her recent stay, Kate experienced a beachfront suite with its own plunge pool, falling asleep to the sound of crashing waves and waking to views of the ocean right outside her door.

With 134 suites and villas, highlights include the Canalan Beachfront Villa and the Cora Mountaintop Villa, both designed for families or small groups seeking maximum space and privacy. Getting around is part of the fun: walk, bike, or take a golf cart through the resort’s winding jungle paths.

Dining at Rosewood Mandarina

  • La Cocina: All-day Mexican–Spanish dining in an open-air gallery setting

  • Buena Onda: Casual beachfront spot for grilled seafood, jamón ibérico, and wood-fired flatbreads

  • Coming Fall 2025: Toppu, a Nikkei fusion restaurant, and Barra Peñasco, a cliffside cocktail lounge perfect for sunset

Wellness & Activities

The Asaya Spa, nestled beneath a 500-year-old fig tree, offers treatments infused with eucalyptus, lemongrass, and local herbs. Hydrotherapy circuits, yoga with ocean views, and hikes to the ancient Abuela tree are all part of the restorative experience.

Families are well cared for through the Kids for All Seasons program, offering nature-based play, Mexican cooking classes, and art activities.

Signature touches

  • Cliffside suites with lap pools and panoramic jungle or ocean views

  • Personalized wellness programs at Asaya Spa

  • Sustainability focus: no single-use plastics, support for biodiversity

  • Private airport transfers and Fine Hotels & Resorts program benefits

One and Only Mandarina

If Rosewood is soulfully grounded, One&Only Mandarina is visually striking. This architectural gem is set into the jungle cliffs with 105 standalone villas and treetop suites, each offering private plunge pools, outdoor showers, and stunning rainforest or ocean views.

Exploring The Dunlin and Charleston’s Best Hotels

Our travel advisor Marika just got back from a visit to The Dunlin, a stunning new resort tucked away along the picturesque Kiawah River, just outside Charleston, South Carolina. She got to experience the Lowcountry charm, explore exciting outdoor activities, and bring back the best insider tips. Along the way, she also spent some time in downtown Charleston at two of the city’s top luxury hotels: The Bennett and The Dewberry.

The Dunlin

The Dunlin, part of Auberge Resorts, is all about blending that easy Lowcountry charm with just the right amount of luxury. Nestled along the Kiawah River, it’s a place where you can truly unplug—kicking back by the pool with a drink or exploring marshlands on a boating trip. The resort offers a mix of beautifully designed rooms and private cottages and is a great option for romantic getaways, family vacations, or solo travelers looking for a peaceful escape.

One of Marika’s favorite parts of the trip was the farm experience at the resort’s Goatery. Imagine meeting playful goats, gathering your own eggs from the chicken coop and posing for photos with the pigs - who knew farming could be so fun? For food lovers, the dining options at The Dunlin don’t disappoint. They offer casual bites by the pool at The Cove and Southern-inspired dishes at Linnette’s.

When you’re not eating or lounging, there’s plenty to explore. A saltmarsh boating adventure gives you a glimpse of the area’s natural beauty, while a few hours by the pool in a private cabana is just what you need to recharge. The best part? Everything here feels easygoing yet luxurious—no stuffy vibes, just pure relaxation.

Charleston

After her time at The Dunlin, Marika headed to downtown Charleston for a change of pace, checking out two of the city’s best hotels: The Bennett and The Dewberry. Both hotels offer a unique experience, so no matter your vibe, there’s something for everyone.

The Bennett

For those who appreciate classic elegance and modern comfort, The Bennett Hotel is a perfect choice. Located on King Street, right in the heart of Charleston’s best shopping, dining, and cultural attractions, The Bennett makes it easy to explore the city. With 179 rooms and suites, the hotel feels luxurious without being over the top—think cozy bedding, sophisticated touches, and large windows offering stunning views of the city streets.

No stay at The Bennett is complete without a visit to its rooftop bar, Camellias, where you can sip champagne while taking in panoramic views of the Charleston skyline. Dining at Gabrielle, The Bennett’s signature restaurant, is another highlight. Serving Southern cuisine with a creative twist, the restaurant showcases local ingredients and seasonal dishes, making it a culinary experience not to be missed.

Staying at The Bennett puts you just steps away from Charleston’s top boutiques and art galleries. You’re also a short walk from the historic waterfront, making it easy to explore Charleston’s historic district and enjoy everything the city has to offer.

The Dewberry

For those looking for something a little more boutique-y, The Dewberry is a dream. This hotel sits in a renovated federal building, giving it a cool mix of mid-century style with a nod to Charleston’s historic roots. With only 155 rooms and suites, it feels intimate and special—like you’re staying somewhere with a story to tell.

The Dewberry’s Living Room is a cozy, beautifully designed lounge where you can unwind with a craft cocktail after a day of sightseeing. The space has become a favorite spot for both guests and locals, offering a relaxed yet stylish atmosphere for socializing or simply unwinding with a good drink. Don’t miss watching the sunset at their rooftop bar, Citrus Club, for some of the best views of the water and the city.

And with its location near Marion Square in the heart of downtown Charleston, The Dewberry offers easy access to farmers markets, museums, and galleries, making it an excellent choice for travelers who want to experience Charleston’s creative side.

Both The Bennett and The Dewberry offer their own unique take on Charleston’s hospitality. The Bennett is grand and elegant, while The Dewberry is artistic and intimate. You really can’t go wrong with either one!

Marika’s time at The Dunlin and Charleston gave her the best of both worlds: relaxing by the river and soaking up the charm of the Lowcountry, followed by a couple of nights in a lively, historic city. It’s the perfect combo if you want a little bit of everything—nature, culture, luxury, and relaxation.

If this sounds like your kind of trip, we’re here to help you plan every step of the way. From kayaking through the marshes to sipping champagne on a rooftop bar, we’ll make sure every detail is just right!
