For the family who wants snow-dusted luxury without the ski-day stress

 For the family chasing magic, sunshine, and stress-free fun for all ages

When your kids utter the words “We want to go on a Disney cruise!” it might not sound like your version of luxury but hear us out. For Spring Break, Kate set sail with family and friends aboard the Disney Magic. And it turns out, this type of trip checks a lot of boxes when it comes to effortless fun for all ages.

With concierge-level service (highly recommended), parents actually get to relax. Kate, the founder of KJ Travel, packed her bags for an exciting weekend in Monaco for the Forbes Travel Guide Conference. But first—Paris!

First Stop: Paris

Kate’s adventure began at Le Meurice, a legendary luxury hotel in Paris that has been a symbol of five-star hospitality since the 19th century. Overlooking the Tuileries Garden, the hotel is known for its elegant rooms, stunning marble bathrooms, and artistic heritage—Salvador Dalí himself was a regular guest. Beyond the luxurious accommodations, Le Meurice offers fine dining at Restaurant Le Meurice Alain Ducasse, blending French classics with modern flair. 

Later, she explored more of Paris, stopping by Notre-Dame to see the incredible four-year restoration project up close. She also had a private shopping experience at La Samaritaine, scouting the best luxury finds for KJ Travel clients. The night ended in style with the Crazy Horse cabaret show, followed by a stay at the Barrière Maison Hôtel. Along the way, she visited some of KJ Travel’s favorite hotels and caught up with top hoteliers to keep those VIP experiences coming!

Next Stop: Monaco 

Kate’s next destination was The Fairmont Monte Carlo, an iconic luxury hotel perched above the Mediterranean. She arrived by helicopter from Nice, taking in breathtaking views of the French Riviera before landing just minutes from Monte Carlo. Known for its rooftop pool with panoramic sea views, the Fairmont is a hotspot for travelers seeking both relaxation and excitement—it even offers a front-row seat to Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix circuit. The hotel also has a lavish spa and several dining options, making it a luxurious base for her time in Monaco.

Know Before You Go: New UK Entry Requirements for Travelers in 2025

We love planning vacations to the UK—whether you're exploring the historic streets of London or venturing into the scenic countryside. But starting in 2025, travelers from visa-exempt countries will be required to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before visiting the United Kingdom for short stays. This new requirement applies to most visitors who do not require a visa to enter the UK.

What is the UK ETA?

The Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) is a digital entry permit required for short visits to the UK for purposes such as:

• Tourism

• Business trips

• Short-term study

• Visiting family and friends

Who Needs an ETA?

All travelers from visa-exempt countries will need an ETA. However, you do not need an ETA if you:

• Already have a UK visa

• Have permission to live, work, or study in the UK

• Hold British or Irish citizenship

When Does This Rule Take Effect?

• For non-European travelers: The ETA requirement begins on January 8, 2025.

• For European travelers: The requirement starts on April 2, 2025.

How to Apply for an ETA?

Applying for an ETA is simple and can be done online or via the “UK ETA” mobile app. The process involves:

• Submitting personal and passport details

• Uploading a passport-style photo

• Answering basic travel and security-related questions

• Paying a £10 application fee

• Waiting for approval (Processing time is usually within three business days)

How Long is the ETA Valid?

London & Finland, a Winter Duo

Last month, our advisor Kate experienced the best of both Finland and London to ring in the New Year with her family. Her journey inspired us to share this winter pairing that’s definitely worth adding to your bucket list. She started in Finland, diving into the magic of snowy landscapes, thrilling dog sled rides, and meeting a fifth-generation reindeer herder. From there, she headed to London, where cozy cafes, bustling markets, and a vibrant arts scene brought warmth to the chilly season. 

Finland: 

Kate’s adventure began in Ruka, Finland, where she stayed at the welcoming and authentic chalets. These chalets offer a truly Finnish experience, they even have up to four bedrooms perfect for mutiple families traveling together They are known for their cozy log-cabin style and private saunas set by the shores of a frozen lake. Their first evening was spent exploring Ruka Village and visiting Santa’s Cottage, a charming introduction to the wonders of Lapland.

Husky Safaris & Smoke Saunas

One of the most exciting parts of Kate’s trip was the husky safari, gliding through snowy trails behind a team of eager sled dogs. Dog sledding has been around for thousands of years. These amazing dogs can run for hours with endless enthusiasm. Afterward, Kate warmed up in a traditional smoke sauna, a Finnish ritual that’s all about relaxation and rejuvenation. She also took things a step further with an unforgettable experience: taking a cold plunge into a frozen lake. It was exhilarating and left her feeling recharged and deeply connected to the Arctic surroundings.

Reindeer & Snowshoe Adventures

Meeting reindeer up close was another highlight. In Finnish Lapland, reindeer outnumber people and play a huge role in Sami culture, where herding has been a way of life for centuries. Kate also went snowshoeing, wandering through peaceful forests with snow-dusted trees and frozen lakes all around—a truly magical way to connect with nature.

Snowmobiles & Santa Claus Village

Kate’s adventures didn’t stop there. She took a snowmobile tour, zipping across frozen landscapes under a pale winter sun. Her time in Finland wrapped up with a visit to Santa Claus Village, where she sent postcards from the official Santa Post Office and soaked in the festive atmosphere.

The local food was a highlight too. Kate loved the creamy artichoke soup, smoked salmon, reindeer stew and and Karelian pies topped with egg butter. And after long days in the cold, a cup of glögi (spiced mulled wine) was the perfect way to warm up.

London: 

Kate landed in the vibrant streets of London. She stayed at two stunning hotels: The Beaumont Hotel and Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park. 

The Beaumont Hotel

Located in Mayfair, The Beaumont Hotel combined cozy comfort with Art Deco elegance.  Mayfair is also the future home of the luxurious Auberge London – Cambridge House, opening late 2025, which adds another layer of excitement to this vibrant neighborhood. 

The Beaumont is small, with just 50 rooms and 22 suites, which makes it feel incredibly personal and intimate. The location is ideal; Hyde Park is just a short walk away if you’re craving some fresh air, and some of London’s best shopping streets and restaurants are practically on the doorstep. It’s also super convenient for exploring landmarks like Buckingham Palace or Bond Street, which is perfect if you want to make the most of your time in the city. She loved winding down at Le Magritte Bar & Terrace after her busy days.

Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park

Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park has the best of both worlds: you’ve got Hyde Park’s green space on one side and the chic energy of Knightsbridge and Mayfair on the other. The hotel has 181 rooms and suites, many with views of Hyde Park, which is such a rare treat in London. What’s also exciting is that Mandarin Oriental just opened their new Mayfair property nearby. It’s sleek and modern, offering a completely different feel, but together, these two hotels really show off the best sides of London.

Kate dove into London’s festive spirit at the Hyde Park Winter Festival, where the holiday cheer was contagious. As one of the largest and most festive Christmas markets in the UK, it’s a must-visit destination for the holiday season. Dinner at Inamo Covent Garden with its interactive tables was a fun experience, followed by a night at the theatre watching Mamma Mia!, which had everyone singing along.

Harry Potter Studios

A visit to The Making of Harry Potter studios brought the magic of the Wizarding World to life. You’ll see real costumes, iconic props, and even ride a broomstick. The Hogwarts Express is a highlight, perfect for that classic photo op.

If you’re curious about how the movies were made, there are behind-the-scenes exhibits showing everything from animatronics to the creation of mythical creatures.

There are ticket options for everyone—self-guided tours, VIP experiences, and even an exclusive Afternoon Tea right in the studios. And if you’re visiting around the holidays, you might catch the sets decked out in festive décor, including a snowy Hogwarts!

East London’s Creative Side

Kate spent a day in East London, exploring Spitalfields and Shoreditch. This neighborhood is a mix of history and modern culture. 

Her day started with a walking tour, where she learned the stories behind the art—this area was an early stomping ground for Banksy, and now it’s an outdoor gallery for artists from all over the world. They even got to try out graffiti during a workshop with a local artist (spoiler: it’s harder than it looks!). The day also featured some incredible eats, including Brick Lane bagels and Instagram-famous hot chocolate.

This mix of Finland’s snowy landscapes and London’s lively energy made for a unique and super fun winter getaway. Winter doesn’t have to mean staying cooped up inside. Lenni’s Southeast Asia Adventure: Exploring Singapore and Thailand

Southeast Asia is a must-visit destination for travelers seeking an incredible mix of culture, food, and adventure. Our advisor, Lenni, recently explored Singapore and Thailand and shared all the essential details.

SINGAPORE

Singapore is often considered a great introduction to Southeast Asia. It’s clean, modern, and easy to navigate, with a fantastic food scene and a highly efficient train system. Marina Bay Sands is a perfect base, offering plenty of dining and shopping options. For those who prefer ride-sharing services like Grab, getting around the city is straightforward and convenient.

For hotels, Marina Bay Sands is known for its iconic infinity pool, while nearby options like the Ritz-Carlton, Mandarin Oriental, or Raffles Hotel provide a more personalized and luxurious experience. Each offers something unique, from sleek modern amenities to historic colonial charm.

Singapore is ideal for a short stay—three full days are just the right amount of time to explore highlights like the Gardens by the Bay, Orchard Road, Chinatown, Little India, and Kampong Glam. Don’t miss the rooftop bars and Michelin-starred street food, which offer both local flavors and spectacular views. If you have extra time before your next destination, Changi Airport is worth exploring—it’s home to an indoor waterfall, gardens, and even a butterfly sanctuary! Yiy can use luggage lockers to explore comfortably if traveling with carry-ons.

THAILAND

Lenni’s adventure through Thailand was filled with incredible experiences that blended culture, relaxation, and adventure. From island hopping in Phuket to learning to cook authentic Thai dishes in Chiang Mai, and exploring Bangkok’s vibrant markets and food halls, her journey highlighted the best of this diverse country.

Phuket:
Lenni’s time in Phuket started with an unforgettable trip to the Phi Phi Islands, where she soaked up the turquoise waters and stunning limestone cliffs. She began her stay in the southernmost part of Phuket and gradually moved up the coast, enjoying the scenic views along the way.

Her home base was the Rosewood Phuket, where she indulged in mornings with breakfast by the pool and even took jumping classes. The resort’s tranquil setting and luxurious amenities made it the perfect place to relax after exploring.

Chiang Mai:

Next, Lenni headed to Chiang Mai, where she stayed at the InterContinental Chiang Mai. Her days were filled with unique and meaningful experiences, like visiting an elephant sanctuary and learning about conservation efforts. She also made the most of Thailand’s famous massages, enjoying multiple sessions for just $9 each.

One of the highlights of her time here was taking a songthaew up the mountain to visit a hill tribe village, where she learned a few words in their local dialect. The region is known for producing coffee beans, peaches, and persimmons, which added a flavorful touch to her cultural experience.

Lenni also explored Chiang Mai’s vibrant food scene by taking a local market tour and a cooking class. She loved picking fresh herbs and vegetables from the organic garden and learned to make dishes like Khao Soi and Pad Thai. During her visit, she checked out one of her favorite boutique hotels, 137 Pillars Hotels and Resorts, where every suite features spacious outdoor patios—a true hidden gem in the heart of the city.

Bangkok:
Lenni’s final stop was Bangkok, where the energy of the city was unlike anywhere else. She stayed at the luxurious Peninsula Bangkok Hotel, which offers complimentary boat transfers to nearby areas. Lenni loved exploring the city by boat, train, and tuk-tuk, guided by a local expert.

She visited iconic landmarks like the Grand Palace, the Jim Thompson House Museum, and the famous Maeklong Railway Market, where vendors swiftly pack up their stalls as the train passes through.

Lenni is a big fan of food halls in Bangkok’s shopping malls, where she discovered a mix of local and international flavors. She also went on a Chinatown food tour, where she tried unique dishes like milk pork skewers, durian, and even sampled some bugs—an adventurous highlight of her trip!

Before leaving, Lenni visited the stunning Four Seasons Bangkok, which features incredible suites with prime river views. And here’s something exciting—Six Senses The Forestias is opening in 2025, bringing a new level of luxury to the city! Thailand’s first urban Aman Hotel, Aman Nai Lert Bangkok, will also open soon, set within Nai Lert Park, a lush sanctuary in the heart of Bangkok. 

Essential Tips for Southeast Asia

• Dress Codes: Temples in Thailand have strict dress codes. Make sure your shoulders and knees are covered if you are wanting to enter. Luckily, there are clothing/sarong shops around the temples that you can pick up a covering on your way there, if needed!

• Cash is King: While luxury hotels and high-end restaurants accept cards, most other places in Thailand only take cash, especially at the markets. There are plenty of ATMs all around the cities, airports, etc., making it easy to take out cash throughout your trip.

Family Holiday in England: Christmas in London, Oxfordshire & Hampshire

Our travel advisor Brynne spent the holidays in England with her family, visiting London, Oxfordshire, and Hampshire. This trip was a mix of city buzz and countryside calm, with a focus on experiencing Christmas magic in the United Kingdom.

LONDON

London never disappoints, and Brynne was long overdue for a trip back to one of her favorite cities. They started their holiday here, diving straight into the hustle and bustle. Fighting off jet lag, they had brunch at the fabulous Chiltern Firehouse and rode around the city in an iconic double-decker bus—her girls’ number one request! Another dining highlight was a brunch-time tea at Sketch. The golden tea room is gorgeous, and Brynne’s girls thought they were in a fairy tale!

They stayed at Hotel Café Royal, which perfectly balances historic charm and modern luxury, with 160 beautifully designed rooms and suites. Its location? Spot on. It’s just steps from Regent Street, perfect for a bit of shopping, and a short walk to Piccadilly Circus for those iconic London strolls under the Regent Street lights. The best part? Viewing the lights from their Regent Suite and avoiding the crowds!

London in winter has its own kind of magic, and the family made the most of it. At Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, they wandered through twinkling lights, enjoyed festive rides, and explored endless market stalls. Brynne highly recommends visiting Winter Wonderland on a weekday when schools are still in session in London. As one of the largest and most festive Christmas markets in the UK, it’s a must-visit destination for the holiday season. Of course, Europe is home to many other incredible markets, and if you’re a fan of festive markets, London is a fantastic starting point for exploring the magic of European Christmas markets.

For a bit of history, they joined the "In Churchill’s Footsteps" tour, which brought Winston Churchill’s incredible life story to light. Because no London trip is complete without a show, they caught The Lion King at The Lyceum Theatre. Her daughters, ages 7 and 5, absolutely loved it!

OXFORDSHIRE

After soaking up London’s buzz, Brynne and her family headed to Oxfordshire, where the pace slowed, and the views stretched wide. Their home base here was Estelle Manor, a countryside retreat that feels like a scene from a movie. Imagine rolling parklands—over 3,000 acres of it—wrapping you in peaceful serenity. The setting was superb, with roaring fires under beautiful garlands adorned with velvet ribbons, and a heated swimming pool with a twinkling Christmas tree in the background!

One of the highlights? Falconry. It’s not every day you get to hold such amazing creatures on your arm and see them up close. It was a "wow" moment for the whole family. And when they weren’t out with the birds, they were skating with their daughters on the seasonal Estelle Ice Rink! The girls also loved driving the sage green “Little Landies.”

Evenings at Estelle Manor were something special, too. The food was some of the best Brynne has ever had while traveling. From British classics like Beef Wellington to a black truffle risotto she still thinks about, they filled their cups (and bellies) at beautiful candlelit tables.

HAMPSHIRE

The final leg of their trip took them to the Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire, a Georgian manor tucked into the rolling hills of the English countryside. This place was everything they dreamed of and more, made even better by the Hunter boot-themed Christmas decorations! The welcome to their Belvedere Suite was completely over the top, with personalized treats for their girls.

Their days were filled with countryside adventures. Her daughters adored pony grooming, while the adults joined in for horse riding. The estate itself had gorgeous grounds offering picture-perfect moments at every turn. While her girls enjoyed festive crafts and fun at the Kids Club, the adults took part in an afternoon tea that was truly spectacular. Brynne still sips on the Four Seasons signature blend every morning at home.

The spa, set in a converted 18th-century stable, was the ultimate place to relax and reflect on the trip. One of the most memorable nights was an en suite magic show to celebrate her husband Andrew’s birthday with the in-house magician. It was such a delightful pre-dinner activity! Meals at The Wild Carrot featured fresh, seasonal ingredients throughout.

Brynne’s holiday trip to England shows how you can enjoy the excitement of the city, the tranquility of the countryside, and create unforgettable family memories. While this trip was during the festive season, destinations like London, Hampshire, and Oxfordshire are also fantastic destinations for a spring break alternative. They offer a refreshing change of pace from traditional beach vacations, with opportunities to explore historic landmarks, picturesque countryside estates, and vibrant city life.

Tokyo: 

Kate’s first stop was the Bulgari Hotel Tokyo in Tokyo Midtown Yaesu, close to some of the best things to do in Tokyo, including the Imperial Palace, Ginza’s luxury shops, and the lively Marunouchi business area. This sleek hotel offers 98 rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows, a rooftop bar with views of Tokyo Tower, a luxurious spa, and a 25-meter indoor pool—ideal for those wanting elegance in the heart of the city.

Experiences & Dining:
In Tokyo, Kate enjoyed an Old Tokyo Food Walk Tour, tasting traditional snacks and exploring Tokyo’s historic neighborhoods. She also explored Tokyo’s famous knife shops, taking home a beautifully crafted Japanese knife—an iconic souvenir from Japan. For dining, an omakase experience at Sushi Ya introduced her to Tokyo’s world-renowned sushi, followed by cocktails at Ginza Music Bar, a cozy spot with vinyl records and custom drinks.

Kyoto: 

Kate traveled to Kyoto on the Shinkansen bullet train—2 hour, scenic journey and an experience in itself for those seeking the best way to travel in Japan.

Hotel The Mitsui Kyoto was her first stop, and it’s all about luxury with a touch of tranquility. The hotel is right near Nijo Castle, and it has these private onsen baths that let you soak in total relaxation. The beautifully landscaped gardens and world-class spa made it the perfect retreat after a day of sightseeing.

Then there was the Four Seasons Kyoto, where everything revolves around this stunning 800-year-old pond garden. The setting was pure magic, and the modern-meets-traditional design of the hotel was a perfect reflection of Kyoto itself. Plus, with amazing dining options and a luxurious spa, it was a place Kate didn’t want to leave.

Her final stay was at The Ritz-Carlton Kyoto, right by the Kamogawa River. This hotel nailed the balance between sleek, modern comfort and traditional Japanese aesthetics. The rooms were beautifully designed, and with a Michelin-starred restaurant on-site, it was a total treat for the senses.

Experiences & Dining:
Kyoto’s highlights included exploring Nishiki Market, the city’s famous food hub, and visiting iconic landmarks like the Fushimi Inari Taisha with its red torii gates, the glittering Golden Pavilion (Kinkaku-ji), and the serene Arashiyama Bamboo Grove.

To connect with tradition, Kate participated in a tea ceremony and kimono experience, a perfect way to immerse herself in Japanese culture. Her evenings were filled with flavors on a Gion Food Tour, sampling Kyoto’s culinary delights, and ending the day with fun at a karaoke bar.

Osaka: 

Known as the food capital of Japan, Osaka is all about flavor and fun, making it a fantastic contrast to the elegance of Kyoto.

In Osaka, Kate sampled must-try Japanese street foods, such as gyoza and okonomiyaki (savory pancakes), in the heart of the vibrant food districts. 

Hakone:

After the excitement of Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka, Kate traveled to Hakone, a peaceful retreat known for its hot springs, scenic landscapes, and views of Mount Fuji—a popular destination for those looking to experience Japan’s natural beauty.

In Hakone, she experienced Gora Kadan, a high-end ryokan and former Imperial Family villa, known for its historical charm and luxurious amenities, including private hot springs and traditional Japanese rooms.

Our travel advisor Marika just got back from a visit to The Dunlin, a stunning new resort tucked away along the picturesque Kiawah River, just outside Charleston, South Carolina. She got to experience the Lowcountry charm, explore exciting outdoor activities, and bring back the best insider tips. Along the way, she also spent some time in downtown Charleston at two of the city’s top luxury hotels: The Bennett and The Dewberry.

The Dunlin

The Dunlin, part of Auberge Resorts, is all about blending that easy Lowcountry charm with just the right amount of luxury. Nestled along the Kiawah River, it’s a place where you can truly unplug—kicking back by the pool with a drink or exploring marshlands on a boating trip. The resort offers a mix of beautifully designed rooms and private cottages and is a great option for romantic getaways, family vacations, or solo travelers looking for a peaceful escape.

One of Marika’s favorite parts of the trip was the farm experience at the resort’s Goatery. Imagine meeting playful goats, gathering your own eggs from the chicken coop and posing for photos with the pigs - who knew farming could be so fun? For food lovers, the dining options at The Dunlin don’t disappoint. They offer casual bites by the pool at The Cove and Southern-inspired dishes at Linnette’s.

When you’re not eating or lounging, there’s plenty to explore. A saltmarsh boating adventure gives you a glimpse of the area’s natural beauty, while a few hours by the pool in a private cabana is just what you need to recharge. The best part? Everything here feels easygoing yet luxurious—no stuffy vibes, just pure relaxation.

Charleston

After her time at The Dunlin, Marika headed to downtown Charleston for a change of pace, checking out two of the city’s best hotels: The Bennett and The Dewberry. Both hotels offer a unique experience, so no matter your vibe, there’s something for everyone.

The Bennett

For those who appreciate classic elegance and modern comfort, The Bennett Hotel is a perfect choice. Located on King Street, right in the heart of Charleston’s best shopping, dining, and cultural attractions, The Bennett makes it easy to explore the city.
